COMMUNITY CENTER
The search for location and building boundaries began as an exploration of the Talpiot Market's physical space. The location was a parking lot which brought with it noise and pollution. The lines of the surrounding's area guided the search for the right shape at the chosen location.
Planning Principles
The steep topography is an essential part of the building’s later design. It was important to use the natural topography in order to feel it as if the building have grown from the ground.
While looking for design patterns through some class assignment I was fascinated with water and bubbles. This assignment led to the plan design of the community center as described in the diagrams (diagram no’1).

The bubbles form a plan layout that will further create interesting various spaces (diagram no'2).
Another class assignment was to search for design that can describe
opposite words. The words I have chosen were “introverted-extroverted”, this diagram shows the translation of the words to shape and space. This patter led to the complete design of the building (diagram no’ 3).

Hadar is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Haifa. In the past it was the central neighborhood of Haifa and a center of culture, recreation and leisure. Today, the neighborhood has lost its place as the center of the city and has become an aging neighborhood that needs urban and social renewal. One of the most interesting places in Hadar is the Talpiot Market, an old and large market in Haifa, where thousands of city’s residents visit every day.
The project focuses on a point in the market and offers a community center that will attract additional populations and programs to the place, thereby encouraging the renewal and empowerment the local community.
The Community Center uses the location’s natural steep topography and designed as a semi-open space.

The walls are a constructive concrete element, which holds the loads of the buildings. In this diagram can be seen the various spaces that pierce the walls and create a unique inside-outside space.
The steep topography affects the building section, the main movement through the building is based on slope floor. The floor planned in specific degrees that allow the movement to be easy but also accessible for the disabled and elderly visitors.
The movement spaces are slope based and the closed building spaces are flat and in unique shape because of the floor plan design that allows to create various view inside and outside the building.

Underground Floor
This floor is the underground, it is a big auditorium space.The entrance is through the left side of the building ( the main movement artery).
Ground Floor Plan
The ground floor is opened in the middle and allows visitors to go through the building. The closed spaces are coffee shop and some small shops, bathrooms and stairs with elevators.
Second Floor Plan
This floor is an administrative floor.
Third Floor Plan
The third floor has spaces for various kinds of activities from small scaled to bigger. The semi-open space is also planned as an activity space.
