CARS MUSEUM
The southern facade is more exposed to sunlight in order to give passive heating to the building in the winter months.

The northern facade is more protected from the direct sunlight. The structure acts also as a shading element and allows the building to have semi-open space.

The sun that breaks in shows all the structure and here can be seen how the design based on the structure and vice versa.

The truss, the semi-outside space and the arches impact on the design can be seen here.
In the plan can seen the circular shape and the structural grid shell of the building. The position of the building on the north-south axis in order to have the best climate planning and control of the sunlight.

The diagrams portray the principals of the design which are based on the structure elements, circular movement, open and closed spaces and the simple program.
As part of the details course we were asked to design a museum for cars. The inspiration of the building circular design was taken from the shape of the wheels and smart mechanisms of the car. The design based on the connection of constructive modular segments that create one complete shape. The construction details of the grid is exposed and is part of the building's design.

It was important to plan as simple structure as possible that will stand behind the concept. It is based on three arches that hold the loads, between the arches there is a triangular grid that gives the stability.
On the end parts of the buildings there are trusses that withstand the wind loads on the building. The shell made of specific materials that insulate the inside climate.
